Tarsal supports are available for temporary support of mild strains, to provide long term support of chronic conditions, or to provide support post-surgery to improve outcomes and avoid re-injury.
Three grades of support are offered here. Grades 1 and 2 are flexible, while for more extreme requirements such as post-op and conservative treatment for medium to severe sprains and arthrosis (OA), a rigid Grade 3 is offered. This provides rigid lateral and medial support and prevents tarsal joint movement.
Orders are dispatched within 24 hours.
Scandi Orthopedic also offer a Grade 4 support custom-made from a cast of the individual patient. The Grade 4 can be adjusted and adapted to the desired level of movement with a stop band and/or motion limiter for controlled rehabilitation or as an extra insurance after delicate surgery. It is also possible to adapt the Grade 4 orthosis for use 24 hours a day post-operatively. The Grade 4 can be viewed and ordered on the Scandi Orthopedic website here.

Grade 1
Light and flexible stabilisation for the tarsal joint. High quality neoprene follows the natural shape of the tarsal.

Grade 2
Tarsal Orthosis Grade 2 is designed to enable the level of support, stability or immobilisation to be adapted to the patient. It is suitable for post-op use, minor sprains and similar. Both lateral and medial tarsal divisions and hyperextension/ flexion are reduced. The orthosis uses an adjustable Velcro stabilising system to allow you to adjust the degree of stabilisation and the direction in which you want to stabilise the joint.

Grade 3
The Grade 3 Tarsal Orthosis stabilises the tarsal joint with a customisable thermoplastic sheet. This provides rigid lateral and medial support, preventing tarsal joint movement. All components of the support are highly customisable. The Grade 3 support is appropriate for post-operative and conservative treatment for medium to severe strains and medium arthrosis. Also included is a waterproof, breathable cover made in ScandiTex® . The Grade 3 orthosis can be downgraded to a Grade 2 through the removal of the thermoplastic layer as healing and rehabilitation progress. View the fitting video here.

Measurement for correct size
Available for left and right tarsal. Take measurements in centimetres with the animal standing. Please refer to the diagram to the above. We suggest writing down the measurements then referring to the table to identify the correct size. Each measurement should fall within the range indicated. The support is highly customisable hence the size can be fine tuned to achieve a good fit.
- Measure the circumference of the tarsal
- Measure the length from stifle to tarsal, then reduce by 30%.
- Measure the length from tarsal to metatarsal joint.

Towelling dog drying coat
Dogrobes® dog drying coats are the original towelling drying coat for dogs, trusted by professionals since 2004. They avoid the use of Velcro which can catch in fur and longer ears, ultimately fills with fur, becoming less effective and snags on the coat during washing.
The drying coats are easy to fit after outdoor adventures, swimming, training, bathing or working. Designed to hang over the hindquarters and dry the back legs. They provide excellent warmth and comfort and are not just for wet dogs. The robes slip on and offset ties ensure superb coverage of underbelly and a snug fit for a simple, secure fit.
Dog robes dry quickly for re-use. Wash at 40° C (no Velcro to snag). Tumble dry on low.
Made in Britain from an innovative towelling fabric exclusive to Dogrobes®: 80% cotton, 20% polyester.
Why do I need a dog robe?
Wet fur is a poor insulator. Shaking does not remove all the moisture. Longer loops on the inside of this innovative fabric quickly wick away moisture and trap air and body heat to maintain the dog's body temperature and keep muscles warm. Ensuring your dog is warm and dry, particularly after exercise, reduces muscle stress, tension and injury. Older dogs with arthritis or joint issues will benefit significantly from the rapid drying and heat retention effect of these drying coats. If your dog likes to swim regardless of the outside temperature, these drying coats are a must.
Ideal for the journey home in the car after a wet, muddy walk, keeping your dog warm, drying them off and protecting the inside of the car all at the same time.
At home, when you come in from a wet walk, what happens before you can get the towel out – the wet, muddy shake. Popping the robe on immediately starts the drying process and protects surrounds from the shake off and subsequent dripping, wiping on rugs and the sofa!
