Description

A rigid tarsal orthosis that stabilises both the joint and the paw.

Uses:

  • Immobilising the tarsal joint and paw
  • Post-operative and conservative treatment of fractures, ligament and tendon injuries
  • Recovery of Achilles injury
  • Stabilisation of the lower leg if surgery has to be delayed

Benefits:

  • Ease of moulding to the patient's limb
  • Readily remoulded if the shape needs adjustment
  • Downgrade to a lighter level of support by removing the thermoplastic sheath
  • Lightweight and comfortable for patient
  • Readily access to inspect wound
  • Much cleaner than traditional plaster cast
  • Rigidly stabilises both tarsal joint and paw

The unique design of this tarsal orthosis includes a thermoplastic fabric that turns it into an immobilising cast after heating.  The orthosis is easy to shape and quick to apply. It has the additional benefit of easy removal for wound inspection and for early rehabilitation.

If it is no longer required for healing, the thermoplastic paw element can be cut off leaving the remaining support stabilising only the tarsal joint.

When increased flexibility is wanted the thermoplastic part of the orthosis can be removed, leaving the neoprene part to be used together with the supplied stabilising straps and extra sole as a grade 2 orthosis.

Dispatch of beds

All our beds are made to order. This is how we are able to offer such a large number of sizes and colours.

We aim to dispatch your bed within 14 days of order, and usually manage to do it sooner. If the colour of fabric is not available in that timeframe, we will alert you to the delay and you can opt to change the colour you have selected.

Bespoke beds will generally take four to six weeks. This is because we have to order the bespoke size of foam which can take some time to arrive.

Shipping

We charge for shipping. There is no such thing as free shipping - it is either declared openly as we do, or its cost is hidden in the price you are paying for the item you are buying. The price of shipping depends on the size of the item ordered. Typically a bed shipped within mainland UK will cost £15-18. We use FedEx as they are reliable and are willing to handle our bulky products.

For small items under 2kgs we use Royal Mail next day tracked service. Unfortunately, this is not guaranteed to be a next day delivery. Orders placed before 12 noon will go out the same day.
